thanks i'll show u later what this was about once they fixed it... i've seen someone using this method the first time today and it's really bad, but can be fixed with a simple skin-change on a quest item

they answered me and said they'll change texture/skins on the item i reported. i took a screen of it i'll post when it's changed and no lurker can use this post as a scam idea
it's not the crystalline/longsword.

it seems pretty strange to me that noone noticed this, but if it's still here it means noone ever reported.
...cya later

Hm got to hate this, you help the needy yet you don't get information back. Next time why bother to help if you don't tell us how you got scammed.

The problem here is simple. The OP almost got tricked into buying an item that looks like another one, quite probably more expensive, based soley on the skinning.

The OP refuses to post infortaion as to the identity of the item so that any lurking scammers can't try it before it is fixed.

Why is this stupid? Because now we honest people don't know what the heck to be looking out for, because the person alerting us to the problem is giving no information as to what the problem really is. Plus, I don't think the OP realizes that if said information was in fact posted, it would decrease the chances of people getting scammed because it would increase awareness.

Kind of defeats the purpose of bothering to post...

If its serious enough for anet to agree to do a skin change, better to keep quiet then have hundreds of people trying to pull the same scam.

So you prefer scamming that can be done quickly???

If it does take ages it gives more people the chance to alert others of the scam.

i apologies if it looked like i was hiding something. i really thought is was better not to spread this. but considering i saw a couple of ppl scamming with this trick i think it worths to be shared now.
if u trade anything with sapphires look carefully what the buyer is giving u... sapphires or this sapphire skinned quest item.

i erased the name for the same anti-lurker scammers i told before, guess my point is pretty clear even without knowing where to get the item.

with a simple skin-change it will be ok pretty soon i guess

Oh, you're talking about the Ice from SF. This is a known scam and no reason to change the skin. In truth, the reason a lot of people get scammed is because they're not looking out for themselves. *ALWAYS* look at what you're buying. So what? Mursaat Tokens look like Ecto. A lot of skins coincide w/ worthless skins, but it is the job of the buyer to know what they are getting. Now, if you REALLY did pay for 250 Ice, that's a major scam. And I think that should be changed. But most of the time, people don't give up so much money w/ checking WHAT they are buying. Numbers and looks can be deceiving.

I said the name so people will now actually look at the product.
If a scammer is out to scam, they will just look up where to get it. GuildWiki gives detailed info about it.

it's not the ice from sf... even if i dont remember if the skin was exactly the same. if it was, that one is another item to change. but this one is worse since u can get hundreds and hundreds in a 1/2 hour, while with the ice i think it's way slower.
anyway, if ice has the same skin too, change both

oh and no, the guy offered me those items as they were sapphires. i was selling an elite item, so i checked twice.
he offered 250 real sapphires before, then switched to 250 of these quickly but he wasn't able to scam me
i just thought "it would be so easy to close this hole, just do it"

Oh...I know what you're talking about. I didn't know you could get them so fast, but if you can, I'll do you a favor and not say anything about it.

And yes, Ice looks JUST like a Sapphire, but isn't that quick to get.

I say change them both too.
Mursaat tokens may look like ectos, but the color is somewhat different (more purple for tokens). This is the EXACT same skin as Sapphires.
I also agree that people should pay attention to what they buy, but why help scammers out more when a simple skin change can solve the problem?
